With Book 4 completed, I was 90 percent through Book 5 and forced to make the tough choice to throw it out. The story was not working and deviated from the Operations Series’s core. It was also unfun to read.
When I was in college for my Computer Science Degree, My Programming Mentor said, “Never be afraid to punt.” It is a good thing to remember when coding, especially when writing.
If the story is not working, throw it out and start over.
Small pieces may be usable for something else, but the idea and plot are gone overall.
The next three books will be delayed as I start over on Book 5, but it will be better than releasing a bad story that kills the franchise.
